Wicks of Worthing
I was lucky enough to have quite a bit of information about the Wicks Family at the start of my research. Firstly from the information gathered by my husband's uncle, Maurice Wicks and secondly from his daughter Yvonne and her husband Graeme Searle from New Milton, Hampshire. I was very pleased to meet and get to know Graeme and Yvonne Searle when they visited Australia in 1998. I was able to keep up regular correspondence with them after they returned to England and stay updated on all the family news.
I also corresponded with Josephine Wicks, my husband's grandmother, during the 1980's and her letters, which I still have, give me some insight into her life and her family.
I have been very fortunate to have made contact over the last fifteen years or so with a number of other relatives in England who have provided family stories and photographs, along with names and dates and copies of certificates.
I am very grateful to Sheila Moore, from Leicester, who provided photographs of the Wicks family and was also the source of the diary kept by her grandfather, Arthur Sydney Wicks during the First World War.
Another person who has assisted my research a great deal is Corina Seal from Essex, my husband’s second cousin. Corina has provided many Wicks family anecdotes as well as numerous copies of certificates which help enormously.
My thanks to all who have contributed to the Wicks family story.
